How to put together a yoga outfit
Pants for yoga outfits
Yoga pants are mostly leggings. Leggings are particularly suitable because they are tight-fitting, but still give you enough legroom. With leggings, you should make sure that it is stretchy, otherwise it could easily tear. Despite being very stretchy, leggings should be opaque. Also, they should not cut in. Otherwise, this can become very uncomfortable. Set thereby best on breathable material that can wick away sweat well. A high waistband is advantageous for leggings, because they do not slip so easily. Long leggings or ¾-length leggings are especially popular.
In more traditional styles of yoga, wider cut pants are usually worn instead of leggings. For quiet yoga exercises, these pants are perfect. Traditional yoga pants are a type of harem pants that finish with a wide waistband on the leg. These yoga pants are usually made of comfortable natural materials. This provides a particularly pleasant feeling on the skin and increases the relaxation factor during meditative exercises.
Shirts for yoga outfits
The centerpiece of a yoga outfit for women is the shirt. Yoga tops should not be cut too wide to minimize annoying tugging on the shirt during exercise. For the bra, you should choose a model with thick, crossed straps. This offers particularly good support. Especially with larger bust sizes, this is crucial to relieve the connective tissue.
Whether you prefer to wear a top, a sports bra, a long-sleeved or a short-sleeved shirt for yoga is entirely up to you. The fabrics should be soft and supple, which ensures high wearing comfort. They should also be made of breathable functional material that dries quickly.
Additional frills like decorative buttons are rarely found on yoga shirts. They impress with a minimalist look.
For more movement-intensive yoga sessions, the shirt should either fit tightly to the body or you pull a tight top underneath. Many exercises are overhead exercises where the shirt tends to slip down. For calmer yoga sessions or meditation, you can also reach for another shirt.
Yoga socks
Most yogis do their exercises barefoot, as they have better grip on the yoga mat. In winter or if you already freeze quickly at the feet, however, this can quickly become uncomfortable.
Yoga socks can help against this. Yoga socks are made of breathable materials and can thus better wick away sweat. They also have small silicone nubs and thin elastic bands on the bottom of the foot. This prevents your feet from slipping away during yoga exercises. Some yoga socks even have an exposed toe and heel area. This provides extra support.
